So shopify and squarespace are two absolutely dominant players in the website building space, but that doesn;t mean they are both great for you. In fact, they are both very different and they are very good at very different things, but it is not especially obvious for most people which one you should be getting

Shopify and Squarespace have both been around for over 18 years

Squarespace is a jack of all trades
If someone asks to make a website, i will ask have you tried squarespace

Shopify is hyper focused on one thing and they are essentially the best at that

But that doesn;t mean it is alway better
Some people may want a podcast and a blog and very custom website but they also want to sell online, then maybe squarespace would be better

Squarespace is really the king when it comes to website designs and templates
Shopify has 12 free and 171 paid themes/templates (approx. $300)
Over 168 Squarespace themes/templates and over 60 for online stores, all free

Squarespace has fewer integrations, but still includes the essential ones and for the most part offers more features natively. Their integrations/apps are a much newer addition to the Squarespace ecosystem

Squarespace blogs are better in my opinion
Both have great support
Squarespace allows for podcast hosting

Sales Features
Squarespace accepts Stripe, PayPal, Squarespace payments, and Square which means visa mastercard amex discover apple pay, JCB, and more
Shopify accepts Shopify Payments and many more like Amazon Pay, Stripe, PayPal, Meta Pay, etc.

Shopify has more powerful ecommerce features for sure
Easily sell across multiple channels like Instagram, FB, TikTok
More advanced commerce analytics with shopify
Easier to integrate with POD or dropshipping suppliers on Shopify
Most commerce-centric apps are more optimized for shopify

Both let you define shipping zones, factor in weight, factor in value, and more
Both offer label printing
